SIGBPS AOI: Business Process Innovation and Transformation

Track Chairs:

Xitong Guo (Harbin Institute of Technology)
Jan vom Brocke (University of Liechtenstein)

Track Description:

Business process management (BPM) has become one of the most widely discussed approaches for information professionals. The potential of BPM particularly lies in the integration of advanced information technology with organizational and managerial methods to foster and leverage business innovation and transformation. While early contributions were focusing on the (re-)design of single processes, contemporary research calls for a more holistic view on the management of organizational processes. To that end, business process management is understood as an integrated set of corporate capabilities related to strategic alignment, governance, methods, technology, people, and culture.
The aim of the BPM track is to provide a forum for thought leaders in this area to assist in further shaping research on BPM as a boundary-spanning discipline of IS research. We invite rigorous and relevant contributions from a wide variety of research methods, addressing topics such as the below:

  • Open Innovation and BPM
  • BPM and Social Software
  • Business Transformation Management
  • Sustainability and BPM
  • Value-Contribution through BPM
  • Creativity-Support Systems
  • Collaborative BPM
  • The Role of Culture in BPM
  • People-driven BPM
  • BPM Governance
  • Case Studies
  • Teaching Cases
